Grade: M+

Accomodation

Keswick Youth Hostel, Station Road, Keswick, Cumbria CA12 5LH (Tel. 0870 770 5895)
All bed linen supplied. No membership required. This facility is self catering although meals are available on request at extra charge. B&B can also be arranged if booked early! This hostel was chosen as the town of Keswick offers extensive eating places and plenty of outdoor shops to browse around if the weather is inclement!

Friday 26th

We will depart Stirling railway station at 16:00 hrs and drive to Keswick. This will take approximately 3hours. Time enough to book into the accommodation and still get supper in town.

Saturday 27th

THE COLEDALE HORSESHOE : This classic 'stroll' of 17km includes Grisedale Pike (2595ft) and Grasmoor (2795ft) and starts from Braithwaite. It is described as a pleasant and enjoyable ridge walk with relatively undemanding climbs well spaced out. The paths rank amongst the best, well-used, high-level anywhere in the Lake District.

Sunday 28th

HIGH STYLE RIDGE : Another classic including High Stile (2644ft) with option to visit Haystacks (1959ft). From Buttermere this is 18km. Described as having stunning views, demanding climbs with some severe erosion on the steep scree slopes of High Crag. A day to get your teeth into!

Monday 29th

A BORROWDALE MEDLEY : This is described as a less strenuous day with a choice of lower fells around Derwent Water. Maybe just to get your breath back after yesterday and prepare for tomorrow!

Tuesday 30th

BLENCATHRA (via Sharp Edge) : The total distance for this wonderful last day is 10km. The total ascent is a mere 975m. I am assured this is one of the most spectacular scrambles in the Lakes. What an incredible way to round off this trip!

We will then return to Stirling stopping en-route for a snack or meal.

Total cost of £205 includes-self-catering accommodation, transport and guide.

Bed and breakfast can be arranged if given ample warning!

A non-returnable deposit of £40 is required to confirm booking.
The balance of £165 to be paid by 13th September.
Please make all cheques payable to Janet Whyte and enclose a s.a.e. if a receipt is required.

This deposit is lodged in a Clients Deposit Account with the Bank of Scotland in Callander.
In the event of this trip being cancelled by Glen and Mountain Guides the deposit will be automatically refunded.
